Master gilder’s workshop · Düsseldorf · since 1990
A work of art deserves
a proper finish.
Hand-made frames, gilding and restoration – for museums and galleries, and just as much for your family photograph, an inherited picture or a certificate. From a master gilder and a woodcarver who have shared their trade for over three decades.
A first assessment from photographs is free and without obligation. Front, back and the damage in close-up are enough.

Common questions
What clients ask most often
Do you work with museums and galleries on loans?
Yes. We align conservation framing, transport arrangements and scheduling with exhibition cycles — including for larger groups of works.
Do you frame entire collections for hotels, law firms or practices?
Yes. For properties holding large numbers of works we develop a single framing scheme and carry it out as a series — at the same quality across every piece.
Can you work on invoice and with tender documents?
Yes. For companies, public bodies and heritage conservation we provide auditable quotations and measured surveys.
I have inherited a picture and don’t know what it needs. What now?
Bring it in — by appointment. We will look at it with you and tell you honestly whether anything needs doing at all.
Will you advise at my home as well?
If you wish, yes. It makes particular sense when wall colour, light and the hanging position should have a say in the choice of frame.
Do you also frame photographs, certificates or keepsakes?
Yes. For three-dimensional objects, textiles and keepsakes we make box frames — with UV protection if required.
My picture has been damaged — what is the first step?
Change nothing on the object, photograph the damage, inform your insurer and call us. The less it has been handled, the better the starting point.
Do you produce documentation my insurer will accept?
Yes. We record the damage, document it photographically and draw up quotations in the form insurers expect.
Can you handle the condition report and the restoration together?
Yes — which saves you co-ordinating between the assessor and the workshop doing the work.
How do I know a restoration is needed?
Typical signs: a yellow haze over the paint surface, craquelure with lifting edges, tears in the canvas, or flaking finish on the frame.
Does restoration change my picture?
It uncovers what was already there. We work reversibly — later conservators can identify our interventions and undo them.
Do you also restore furniture and ecclesiastical objects?
Yes. Carving, gilding, marquetry and French polish are part of the work, as are candelabra, sculpture and church furnishings.
